Another Visit to the Hospital!

Hi Everyone,

Lately, Mommy has been a bit discouraged. Mommy & Daddy have both been fighting illnesses for the last several days (Daddy has strep throat and Mommy has a bad cold). In addition, they haven't been able to get over their illnesses because of my sister Jackie - who still doesn't go to bed until after midnight (sometimes not until 1am). Of course, because I am still technically a newborn, I have to wake up in the middle of the night to get fed. So needless to say, Mommy and Daddy have been sleep deprived and miserable due to their illnesses. Unfortunately, because Mommy & Daddy have been sick, they got me sick as well. Two nights ago, I pretty much woke up every hour and I developed a fever (about 103). Since I still had suspected neutrapenia, my hematologist said that if I ever developed a fever above 100.5, I had to go to the ER. So I went to the ER and I had to stay at the hospital 1 night. The one good thing that came out of this experience is that it was determined that I am NOT neutrapenic (my neutraphil levels were completely normal). Still my pessimistic/overly cautious doctor refuses to say that I don't need to worry about this issue any further. In fact, I was a bit annoyed with him because he kept insisting that I may have bacterial meningitis (even though I almost certainly got sick from either Mommy or Daddy).

Mommy stayed with me at the hospital for 24 hours while Daddy took Jackie to a festival in McLean with Alex and Abby. She had a really good time. She got a bunny tattoo, a bunny ballon and an inflatable soccer ball. She also got to ride the ponies. Auntie Victoria ended up watching Jackie while Daddy dropped off some supplies for Mommy at the hospital. Surprisingly, Jackie did VERY well with Auntie Victoria. She particularly got a kick out of playing with Auntie Victoria's "farting car." Jackie took to Auntie Victoria so much that she even called her "Mommy." Interestingly, later on that evening, Jackie started calling Daddy Mommy as well.

It seems that the hospital is trying to make their rooms nicer these days. For instance, they had a playstation in my room (see top left side of this picture). Of course I'm too young to play video games.

The room also had a flat screen TV. We watched the Eagles lose to the Redskins:(

Notice that Mommy wrapped me up in my own blanket. The hospital blankets are not very soft.

Mommy already changed me out of my hospital gown because she was so eager to leave!

Love,
Jonathan
