Jackie at 3!

Jackie at 3 Years:
Jackie has grown a lot in the past year.
1. Stats at age 3: 40 inches (95%) and 37 lbs (90-95%).
2. Favorite toys include: cars and puzzles.
3. Jackie has gotten to be quite good at puzzles (currently working on a 48 piece puzzle).
4. Jackie also enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly pedaling her tricycle and playing on the playground.
5. We’ve discovered that despite some concerns earlier on, Jackie is in fact a girl! She enjoys dressing up (particularly wearing high heel shoes) and she likes the color pink.
6. Over the past 6 months in particular, Jackie has become very verbal. Although Jackie is still on the quiet side, she has become quite conversational when she feels like it.
7. Surprisingly, potty training is going very well. We have spent the last two days with Jackie either naked or in underwear. She has consistently done #1 without our prompting. We are still working on #2. We use a Dora puzzle as her incentive to use the potty. She only gets to work on her “special” Dora puzzle whenever she does either #1 or #2 in the potty.
8. Jackie loves going to preschool and she talks about her classmates and teachers all the time.
9. Jackie has been pretty healthy this year, but shortly after turning 3 we learned that Jackie had her first ear infection and bronchitis. Unfortunately, we had to put her on her first round of antibiotics.
10. Jackie enjoys helping Mommy around the house (she is getting very good at doing the laundry).
11. Jackie has also learned quite a few self-help skills, such as putting on her coat (using the flip method), putting on her pants and shirt and washing her hands (including turning on and turning off the faucet and drying her hands).
12. Jackie knows her numbers (up to 20), letters, shapes and colors pretty well. She has started counting with her fingers. She has also started drawing some shapes on her own.
13. Jackie also knows a lot of songs. Often, we’ll catch ourselves say “when did she learn that?”
14. Jackie still has intense jealously issues regarding Jonathan. She will often get very angry at Jonathan’s mere presence. Car rides with Jackie & Jonathan have become torturous (even short rides). Recently, however, we have seen Jackie trying to play/entertain Jonathan.
15. Jackie’s hair is finally long enough to put it in a pony tail!
16. Jackie’s favorite characters include any of the Cars characters, Hello Kitty, Elmo and Thomas.
17. Lately, Jackie LOVES watching Elmo’s World. A year and half ago, Jackie liked stopped watching Sesame Street because she got into the Wiggles. For some reason Elmo’s World has made a come back.
18. Jackie does not nap (and has not for the past year).
19. Jackie does not sleep through the night (it happens once ever 6 months).
20. Jackie sleeps in her own bed. However, when she wakes up in the middle of the night and realizes that Mommy isn’t there, she will come into Mommy’s room and escort Mommy back to her bed.
21. Jackie needs to sleep with the light on.
22. Jackie enjoys doing art and craft projects (which typically happens in preschool and not at home).
23. Jackie is a fairly picky eater. She drinks a lot of milk (in fact, still drinks milk from the bottle). Her favorite foods include: chicken nuggets, seaweed and rice, and french fries.
24. Jackie has a great imagination. All of her stuffed animals have come to life. She has assigned them ages (Easter Bunny is 2, Grey Bunny is 6).
25. Jackie can tell who the girls are from the boys.
26. Jackie is starting to understand family relationships. For example, she knows that Grandma is Mommy’s Mommy. Pink Bunny is Easter Bunny’s Mommy.
27. Jackie also enjoys serving and making food using her tea set and kitchen.
28. Jackie may be the biggest child in her preschool class.
29. Jackie’s lovies include Grey Bunny, Easter Bunny, Pink Bunny and Bunny Rabbit Blanket – yes there is still a bunny theme.
30. Jackie has become quite a good dancer.
