Update on Jonathan

As many of you know, Jonathan's health has been a concern. Since Jonathan was discharged from the hospital, he has had two follow-up visits with the hematologist. During the first visit, we learned that his neutraphil levels went up to 1300. However, during his second visit (last week), we learned that his levels went down again to 1000. At this point, we are still trying to figure out what is going on. The doctor wanted Jonathan's neutraphil levels monitored ever few weeks.

In addition, Jonathan has developed a bit of a "flat" head from not only sleeping on his back, but from also significantly favoring his left side. We took Jonathan to see the "head people" today. The examination showed that Jonathan definitely had a flat head, which was causing certain features like his ears and eyes to be slightly misaligned. The clinician said that if Jonathan was a few months older, she would recommend treatment (aka a helmet) right away. However, b/c Jonathan is only 2.5 months, he still has time to make significant corrections by doing aggressive tummy time (at least 6 times a day) and neck stretching exercises. However, the clinician stated that even though she believes that significant improvement is possible, she believes that Jonathan will still require treatment (approximately being in a helmet for 8 weeks). We have a follow-up appointment scheduled for Nov. 6th to determine if Jonathan has improved enough to avoid treatment.

Other than these two issues, Jonathan has been doing well. He has such a pleasant and sweet demeanor. He is definitely "easy." However, his sister, Jackie, is still struggling with some jealousy issues. Up until recently, Jackie hasn't attempted to hit Jonathan. However, she began to do so as of yesterday. She waits until she "thinks" that Mommy has left the room and then she tries to hit Jonathan. We are hoping that this behavior will stop soon. Jonathan, however, enjoys looking at Jackie (I guess an early form of "admiring" his older sister).

Gifts Keep Coming!

Hi - this is Jonathan. I just wanted to acknowledge some of the gifts that I've been getting from some super nice and generous people:)

Here are some gifts that I got recently from my Auntie Marie, Uncle Rich, and Cousins Phil & Val: I especially like the "chic magnet" sign - it describes me perfectly:)

Here are two Eagles sleepers that I got from Mom Mom and Pop Pop. Mom MOm and Pop Pop also got me that two piece Eagles sweat suit that you saw in the NJ Visit post. It looks like I am an official Eagles fan.

Oops - how did this picture get in here! I don't play with dolls!

Here is a nice one piece outfit from my friends Lucian and Lennon. I also got these really cool mittens that I can shake to make noises, but my sister Jackie is playing with them right now.

Here are some fancy dress shirts that I got from my next door neighbor, Helen. She has a heart for little guys like me. I may wear one of these shirts to my dedication at Church (which btw is at 6:45pm on Nov. 15th at McLean Bible in case anyone was interested in coming).

Here is an outfit that I got from my neighbors, Riley and Sophie. They even gave my sister Jackie a book.

Also, I got a very generous savings bond from my Mom Mom Frazier, which will come in handy when I go to William and Mary:)

I hope I didn't forget anyone - but if I did, I blame it on my still infantile developing brain.

Thanks everyone for your generosity!

Love,
Jonathan
